Meet the executive president of Open Hearts Ministry, Rev. Hants Temene
Reverend Hants Temene is a faithful witness of Jesus Christ the Lord who serves his community
as pastor, church planter, theologian, Christian missionary, professor, conference speaker and social worker.
Reverend Hants Temene was born at Labruyère, Acul-du-Nord, Haiti, on the 2th of September 1993.
His mother (Mimose Payoute) passed away over four months after his birth. Reverend Hants father's name
is Ezeuve Temene. In 2000, his father got married to his mother in law (Violette Temene) and gave birth to his
two sisters (Neydia and Milandia Temene) and his only one brother, Andy Temene.
Hants knew a difficult childhood related to the effects of his mother's death. He was slow to learn at
school and to adapt to his environment.
In 2002, he left the Evangelical School of Labruyère (École Evangelique de Labruyère) to enter at
Methodist School of Tovar (École Methodiste de Tovar) Grison Garde, Acul-du-Nord, for pursuing with his
primary school. He took his primary school final exam in June 2007.
During his childhood, Hants was always surrounded by the unconditional love and assistance of his
grandmother (Irese Temene) and his aunt (Tamara Temene). His grandmother was the one who helped him with
his homework and showed him how to live in the community.
In September 2007, he left Labruyère, Acul-du-Nord to live in Cap-Haitian in order to start with his
secondary studies at Toussaint Louverture National High School (Lycée National Toussaint Louverture de Bréda).
At the end of the academic year, he failed. Then, in September 2008, he went to Siloe Center of Cap-Haitian to
restart his secondary studies.
At Siloe Center, he made great positive changes. He became strong and very talented at school. He
always occupied the first or second rank in his classes. After spending two incredible years, he left Siloe Center
to return to the Toussaint Louverture National High School. He was a musician in the period. He played the
trumpet. He learnt to play trumpet from Maestro Ideley Ullysse. This man was a music teacher at Siloe Center.
Hants was accepted by Director Abraham to return to the high school with the condition of playing for the high
school music band. As it was very difficult to enter or reenter high school by the 9th grade. The music band used
to play for funeral events, national festivities, school parties and others.
In November 2011, Hants came to faith after hearing a sermon from Rev. Dr. Saint Ange Monestime at
Hope Baptist Church of Cap-Haitian, where he got baptized on the 2th of March 2012. This was one of the best
decisions of his life.
In August 2012, He entered the OMS English Institute for learning to speak English. He spent three
years there and was done in May 2015. Hants was a visionary, inspired by the culture of a great man full of
potentiality. He always dreamed of being connected with the whole world, and serving the Lord in a global
context. Learning how to speak English was a step toward making his vision come true. Like God said to Jeremiah
the Prophet,
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a
prophet to the nations" Jeremiah 1:5, NIV.
During that time, he continued to reveal his full potential at the Toussaint Louverture High school by
playing music and by his academic degree. Every academic year, he always occupied no less than 6th rank for a
class of 120-150 pupils. Note that in the high schools we got more than 100 pupils in each class.
In July 2015, Hants passed his secondary school final exam and prepared to enter university. First of all,
he tried to apply at the Applied Linguistics Faculty, Port-au-Prince, as he dreamed of becoming a professor of

vision. Because he felt that God had called him to serve in the pastoral ministry.
